Making the most of it!

Wow...so we did get LOTS and LOTS of snow, didn't we??? Almost 2 feet - and it was actually too much to sled. Tom and Sophie tried a run but it was so deep it was slow and the climb was impossible for her little legs. Riding around the yard on the sled proved to be good fun and just trying to walk in it. I bundled up as well and headed out just to be with them and enjoy the snow that was still falling. It was fun to be out in the elements! If I would have fallen there was plenty of cushion all around ;)
This morning we didn't even think to check if church was cancelled, we just headed out and found out the hard way! The parking lot wasn't even plowed! They've got a lot of work to do for school there tomorrow. We decided that we would head to the grocery store since we were already out and get a few supplies.
Today the sun is making the snow better for snowman construction, so Tom and Sophie are out there busy at work as I type this. Well, Tom is busy at work and Sophie is watching.
We are so thankful that baby girl didn't decide this weekend was a good time to be born! I had a bunch of contractions on Friday night and we weren't sure for awhile, but she settled down for the rest of the weekend! That was a blessing! But, anytime is fine now that we can get out a little easier. We're so excited!

Crazy amounts of snow

So, the forecast today has changed from some ice and snow to a LOT of snow and maybe some ice, too. Tom heard on the news that we could get as much as 19 inches by tomorrow evening...so I'm pretty much hoping that baby doesn't get any ideas that this is a good weekend to be born! Oh my! That would be a BIG adventure. We're planning on staying home and watching it happen out the window. Sophie, my mom and I went out this morning to get her picture taken and it was an adventure getting home. I was relieved to pull in the garage and be off the roads. Sophie did the best job ever, by the way, being a little model today. She did everything the woman asked her to do and smiled on cue. Wow...what a BIG girl she's getting to be. I just cannot believe it.
Again, if you're local and your kids want to sled this weekend I bet it's going to be a GREAT weekend for it! Come on over anytime!

Interesting facts about how Easter's date is determined

Easter is always the 1st Sunday after the 1st full moon after the Spring Equinox (which is March 20). This dating of Easter is based on the lunar calendar that Hebrew people used to identify Passover, which is why it moves around on our Roman calendar.

Based on the above, Easter can actually be one day earlier (March 22) than it will be this year (2008) but that is pretty rare.

This year is the earliest Easter any of us will ever see the rest of our lives! And only the most elderly of our population have ever seen it this early previously (95 years old or above!) And none of us have ever, or will ever, see it a day earlier! Here are the facts:

1) The next time Easter will be this early (March 23) will be the year 2228 (220 years from now). The last time it was this early was 1913 (so if you're 95 or older, you are the only ones that were around for that!).

2) The next time it will be a day earlier, March 22, will be in the year 2285 (277 years from now). The last time it was on March 22 was 1818. So, no one alive today has or will ever see it earlier than that.

Happy Full Term!

Those were the opening words from my doctor today at my appointment! Hurray! I just am so excited! Everything is good. She did an internal check and I'm no more dilated than I was two weeks ago but that doesn't mean that labor couldn't be soon she said. She estimated that baby is between 7 and 7.5 pounds!!!!!!!!! Wow! That's twice Sophie's size! I can hardly believe that, what will it be like to have a BIG baby?? So, we're all very happy about a good report from the doctor again!
Sophie and I enjoyed an outing to the mall before my appointment. I did a couple of errands and she enjoyed playing in the play area. We met some friends for playing and a fun lunch. So, it's been a very fun day here! I just LOVE being out in the world again. What a treat after so many months at home.

St. Theresa's Prayer

My lovely neighbor shared this with me, it's a beautiful prayer:
"May today there be peace within.
May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.
May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you.
May you be content knowing you are a child of God. Let His presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.
It is there for each and every one of us."

We have had very strange weather here lately. All our snow is gone, and yesterday it was 65 out and we went to the park without coats to play in the afternoon. It was a tease of spring. We're headed back toward snow tomorrow and today it's rain all day.

I'm feeling great! Looking BIG and so happy about it :) I head off to the doctor tomorrow and will be 37 weeks! No longer would our baby be considered preterm at 37 weeks. We are so thankful! I'm getting very excited to meet this new little person and I can hardly believe it will be this month!
