Tom and I are travelling with Sadie (Sophie will stay with my folks) to the Bahamas in early December for Paul and Heather's wedding. We took our own passport photos this week and I just have to share Sadie's photo. I'm sure the people processing it will get a kick out of her expression :)

Smiley Sadie
My smiley little Sadie! She loves playing with this ball, we "roll" it back and forth to her delight! Her second favorite toy of the moment is any balloon, helium or not. She is captivated. I wonder if this is an early attachment to balls and she'll have her daddy's athleticism. We can hope! We just returned from a good trip to MI for a wedding shower for Heather our soon to be sister-in-law. It was a good weekend, other than the girls being sick. They travelled really well. We have lots of pumpkin related activities this month so hopefully I'll be better about posting some photos :)

Sophie turns 4 today!
I can't believe how time has flown...4 years since I became "mommy." It's hard to believe. Sophie has become such an amazing little individual. I love her curiousity, her way with words, and her empathy. She is such a blessing to us and I am so thankful for her. God has truly blessed us with her life. We thought we would not get pregnant based on doctor's opinions, then thanks to healing through prayer, we did. We had a difficult pregnency, but God saw us through. She spent her first month in the hospital, but she thrived and overcame the odds, leaving to go home weeks earlier than they first projected. She started life small at 3.5 pounds, but look at her now! Taller than many of the children in her class, most of which are 6+ months older than her! God is so good! We look forward to each day of her fourth year and the changes it will bring in her. Some days I'd like to just hold on to today, not have her grow up, but I'm told that as a mother my role is to work myself out of a job someday. What a sad thought. I enjoy being needed and loved by my little princesses! So, I'll enjoy each silly, crazy, difficult, amazing moment along this journey - thanking God every day for His abundant blessings.

School update
We made a last minute switch last weekend with Sophie's preschool schedule. It was stressful at the time but she had a GREAT first week of school this week, so I am so thankful! We went to her meet the teacher day last week and there were 14 kids, 10 of which were boys and 5 of them over 5. With her being a young 4 (her big day is tomorrow), we thought she would be a little on the young side for this class. So, we have her in a class that has an even number of boys and girls and she's really enjoying it. I think the extra day will be a big help for me as well!
Sadie has really begun to sit up well the last few days. It's like all of the sudden she's getting the hang of it. It's amazing how a new skill just sort of sneaks up on you! She's looking like such a big girl sitting up! Wow. We are amazed at how big she is already! She's wearing 12-18 month clothes. Unbelievable. We go to the doctor on Tuesday, it will be interesting to see how much our little chunk weighs now.
Sophie and I are fighting a little bit of a head cold and I am so hopeful that a good night sleep is all we need. I want her to be at her best for her big day tomorrow!

First day of school
Sophie had her first day of school today. She and I went in for an hour and met her teacher and all of her classmates. She has an overwhelming number of boys in her class, I hope that she'll get along okay! Her teachers are wonderful! I really like both of them and am so pleased so far! I hope that this is a wonderful year of learning and discovery for her. I am so excited to see how she continues to become an independent, loving little girl!
